What is a Stage 1 remap?
Stage 1 is a new engine map for a car that still has the factory parts. More torque, same turbo, same exhaust.

A Stage 1 remap is a software change. Nothing under the bonnet has to come off. The airbox, the turbo, the catalyst — all factory. The file we send back tells the engine it can use more of what is already there: a bit more boost, a bit more fuel, torque limits that were left on the table for warranty and emissions.
That is why workshops start here. The customer wants the car to pull harder from 2.000 rpm. They do not want a shopping list. On a healthy 2.0 diesel or a modern turbo petrol, Stage 1 is the job that lands most weeks in our queue.
It is not a magic box. If the clutch is tired, extra torque will show it. If the DPF is already clogged, a stronger map will not unclog it. We write the file for the dump you send. A Stage 1 for a BMW 320d is not a Stage 1 for a Golf 2.0 TDI, even when the brochure horsepower looks close.

If the car already has a downpipe or a bigger turbo, skip Stage 1 and read the Stage 2 piece. Flashing the wrong stage is the fastest way to a warning light.
